Thought to date from the 4th century BC, the series of tombs cut into the cliff face lend gravitas to Dalyan. Arranged in two uneven rows, the upper row are called Temple Tombs - procuring a passage cut all around them in the rock. These were not temples: the term chiefly applies to the form of the facade. The lower tombs are called Chamber Tombs, the square door marks the entrance.
